Pensacola Chapter

Just minutes from the beautiful white sands of Pensacola Beach and home to the famous U.S. Navy Blue Angels, the Pensacola Chapter of Florida Public Relations Association sets the scene for professional development, networking and a whole lot of fun! 

The Pensacola Chapter was founded in 1957 by Horace W. "Pete" Olcott, public relations director at Gulf Power Company. Originally the Miracle Strip Chapter, the name was changed to give the chapter a more specific identity as other chapters were formed along the Gulf Coast.

With a membership that reflect the diversity of the profession in the Pensacola area, the Pensacola chapter is home to members from for-profit corporations, health care industry, social services and not-for-profit agencies, media outlets, sports teams and associations, public relations and advertising agencies, local government and the military, among other business sectors. 

The chapter is committed to providing its members with opportunities to connect with other members, the media and the community as well as assisting its members grow as practitioners through local and statewide professional development offerings and accreditation. FPRA History

FPRA is the oldest public relations organization in the United States, founded in 1938 by John W. Dillin, publicity director of the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce. Members represent a variety of different organizations including private and public corporations, government entities, not for profits, counseling firms, and independent practitioners. As a statewide association, FPRA boasts more than 1,000 professional and student members, all of which make up the 15 professional and multiple student chapters united in the common cause of enhancing and promoting the public relations profession.
