Public Relations Professionals Honored at 2016 FPRA Image Awards

Area public relations programs and practitioners were honored at the 2016 Florida Public Relations Association Pensacola Chapter Local Image Awards April 20 at the First United Methodist Church of Pensacola. The local Image Awards competition serves to recognize the best in public relations.

FPRA Image Awards for the Pensacola chapter were presented for programs, printed tools and online/audio/visual tools of public relations. Entries were judged on a written summary and work samples.

The following received the Grand All Image Award:

  • Pensacola International Airport Transforms into Pensacola Intergalactic Airport – Emagination Unlimited

The following received an Image Award:

  • Pensacola International Airport Transforms into Pensacola Intergalactic Airport – Emagination Unlimited

The following received an Award of Distinction:

  • United Way Employee Campaign – Gulf Power Company
  • University of West Florida Luna Settlement Media Kit – Megan Gonzalez, Matt Rowley, Alyssa Townsend
  • 2015 Taste of the Beach Website – Nicole Stacey, Leslie Perino, Katie King

The following received a Judges' Award:

  • United Way Employee Campaign – Gulf Power Company
  • Corporate Sponsorship Packet – Brandi Gomez, Council on Aging of West Florida
  • University of West Florida Luna Settlement Media Kit – Megan Gonzalez, Matt Rowley, Alyssa Townsend

Welcome Grace Tennyson!

We would like to extend a warm welcome Grace Tennyson. Grace was selected as the 2015-2016 FPRA Pensacola Chapter Student Liaison. She will graduate from the University of West Florida with a communication arts degree, specializing in public relations, in April 2016.

As a student at the University of West Florida, Grace is active in several organizations: Omicron Delta Kappa Leadership Honors Society, Phi Kappa Phi Honors Society, the American Marketing Association, and Kappa Delta Sorority. While attending the university, Tennyson worked as a Resident Assistant in the Department of Housing and Residence Life, and currently is employed as a Career Peer for the Department of Career Services. She has had the opportunity and enjoyment of serving on the Dean of University College Search Committee, the Undergraduate Student Staff Selection Committee, and as a Recruitment Counselor for the College Panhellenic Council.

Grace is from Irvine, California and enjoys spending time with her friends.

APR Study Guide: Available January 2016

The revised APR Study Guide will be available January 2016. According to Kathy Mulvihill, senior manager for Accreditation at the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), the current test information will be used in the new version, so the current study material is still valid. The Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA) percentages tested will change and the learning objectives names will change and be combined.  See the 2016 KSA Blueprint

Communicator of the Year

The Pensacola FPRA Chapter is seeking nominations for the 2015 Communicator of the Year.

Communicator of the Year awards are given to public relations professionals, whether members of FPRA or not, who demonstrate outstanding skills in any of the following categories: communicator for a non-profit/government organization, communicator for a for-profit organization or crisis communicator.

Winners will be selected by an awards committee comprised of local media professionals who are not FPRA members. The winners will be announced and recognized in April.

Nominees must work in either Escambia or Santa Rosa County. Past winners of an FPRA Communicator of the Year Award are eligible for nomination. Nominations must be submitted by Friday, March 27, 2015 at 4 p.m.

Public Relations Professionals Honored at FPRA Image Awards

Area public relations programs and practitioners were honored at the 2014 Northwest Florida Image Awards April 16 at the SpringHill Suites at Pensacola Beach. Sponsored by the Pensacola and Northwest Florida Coast Chapters of the Florida Public Relations Association, the regional Northwest Florida Image Awards competition serves to recognize the best in public relations.

The Pensacola Chapter presented the Communicator of the Year Award to two outstanding public relations professionals, one representing a for-profit organization and one representing a non-profit organization, selected by an awards committee comprised of local media professionals. Communicator of the Year honorees were Caron Sjoberg, APR, CPRC (president of Ideaworks) and Annina Dahlstrom (marketing and technology coordinator at the University of West Florida).

FPRA Image Awards were presented for campaigns, printed tools and online/audio/visual tools of public relations. Entries were judged on a written summary and work samples.

The following received the Grand Image Award:
